Private Tour

July 1 — June 30   9:00 am — 4:00 pm

The Personal and Private Garden Tour takes your Mayfield experience to a whole new level…

Picked up from local accommodation in Bathurst & Oberon, on arrival a personal tour around the Hawkins’ Family Garden, plus areas that cannot be viewed during seasonal festivals! Enter through the family’s private entrance and view the private areas normally not open outside of festival events. View Australia’s 2nd largest Maze, Mayfield Chapel, the Rose Garden, croquet lawn, the sculptured garden, and amphitheatre. You will be served a private lunch including Mayfield’s signature ‘Communal Feast’ in The Glass House. Following lunch, walk through the Hawkins private Japanese Garden and within Mayfield House which isn’t even on the Mayfield map during seasonal seasons. Before you leave, you’ll stop into the Cafe & Nursery Produce Store so you can take away a piece of Mayfield home with you!

It will be a day you’ll never forget and a life-experience which should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Sculpture Garden by Talisman Gallery

Ron Fitzpatrick and the Talisman Gallery are renowned for their beautiful metal work. The sculptures made from metal and glass and supported by sandstone blocks are the focus of this pop-up installation throughout Mayfield’s Outdoor Nursery and also feature some of the Nursery’s cool-climate plants. Each one is available for purchase, and make a great centrepiece for your garden. The small glass ornaments, also by Ron Fitzpatrick and the Talisman Gallery creative team, make a great gift this holiday season.

FREE Entry to the Sculpture Garden. Open between 7 December 2018 and 31 January 2019 (Closed 25- 26 December) from 9 am to 4:30 pm and all works and plants on display are available for purchase.

Summer Scavenger Hunt

Enter the Mayfield Hunt these School Summer Holidays for your chance to win Annual Family Memberships (2 adults and two children). Answer skill-testing questions by finding the answers throughout the garden. Solve puzzles and take pictures to celebrate your success. Completing the hunt will win you a Mayfield prize along with entry into the draw for the grand prize: Annual Family Membership to Mayfield. There are many ways to get bonus entries, and you may enter as many times as you choose. Mayfield will draw three winners periodically during School Holidays, and if you don’t win the first time, you will have two more chances to win.

Every weekend a different local musician will bring the fresh tunes and fresh vibes outside Mayfield Cafe. Enjoy woodfire pizzas from Mayfield Kiosk and delicious Summer Cocktails like Sangria and a Pear Mojito from Mayfield Cafe.

During Summer Festival, Mayfield is hosting our second Instagram Competition. Come to Mayfield during Summer Festival and share your beautiful photos on Instagram with the hashtag #mayfieldgarden for your chance to win 2 Autumn Festival Entry Passes.

Summer Festival

January 12 — January 27   9:00 am — 4:30 pm

This year’s Summer Festival features the FRESH FIESTA with live music, woodfire pizza, and a Mayfield lemonade stand on festival weekends. Enjoy rowing boats on Mayfield Lake around the Chinese Pagoda. Play interactive garden games found throughout the garden. And don’t forget about the Summer Scavenger Hunt with bonus points during the Summer Festival that will give you extra entries for your chance to win one of three Annual Family Memberships (2 adults and two children).

Summer’s featured plants are the hydrangeas blooming in purples, pinks, and blues. And you’ll love the water lilies in the water garden and why not listen out for our resident Eastern Banjo Frogs (Pobblebonk). And, of course, the Hawkins’ Family Garden is open – wonder beyond Mayfield Garden all the way to the Hawkins’ Family Amphitheatre. See the stunning croquet court and rose garden. Explore the Sunken Garden Rooms and the Sculpture Garden by Talisman Gallery.

Glamping in the Garden

This Spring we are offering a pop-up luxury camping experience (glamping) in the spectacular grounds of Mayfield. Immerse yourself in a night like no other – in a world-class location while delighting the senses! Glamp in absolute comfort and enjoy the tranquillity and majestic surrounds of the gardens, with exclusive night-time star gazing to Mayfield. You’ll also get to enjoy the Mayfield Farmers platter, where the produce is grown onsite in our garden or on our farm!

Gateway to Garden

March 24   9:00 am — 2:00 pm

24 March 2019
The Gateway to Garden run returns for the second year and everyone is ready to run. Mayfield and D2F teamed up again to host the G2G, which allows runners to challenge themselves through Mayfield’s elevated terrain while exploring the spectacular garden. Explore new tracks with a choice of a 5km or 10km run, and the chance to win exciting prizes.

Ben St Lawrence, two-time Olympic 10km runner, and multi-winner of the City 2 Surf and Sydney Running Festival is the Gateway 2 Garden Ambassador and will look to win the event again in 2019.

Entry is $10 per person (Kids under 5 FREE). It will be a perfect day out for the whole family. Dogs are welcome! Reserve your place in the race! Register NOW.

Autumn Festival

During the 16-day Autumn Festival, the Hawkins Family Garden is open to visitors so this is your opportunity to explore the entire 65 hectares of Mayfield. Get lost in the traditional English inspired Maze, see the Croquet Court, the Chapel, the Chook Hilton, the 80 metre Cascade & Temple and much more. In Autumn, our rowboats are available on Mayfield Lake (at no additional cost) and our interactive games are scattered throughout the garden for your family and friends to enjoy. There is a courtesy bus making several stops around the garden which is great for less mobile visitors.
